It's not going to rob or gain any mpg doing either delete … They have never checked for an EGR or CAT on my car. Then install it yourself or take it to a local garage and have it done. As long as it doesn't get too cold in the next couple months it shouldn't be a problem to wait it out. But it can be done - in the summer I consistently get 50+ mpg hwy if I keep it under 65 mph. But I'm torn between the security of the Dieselgate warranty and the allure of the better power/mileage/longevity of the tune. If you make it another 100,000 miles down the road and the DPF clogs on you, that's when I would look into other options such as deletes. The warmer the temperature is, the better the mileage. No soot at all.

If and when you get a tune, just let them know it’s gone and they’ll tune it out for you. I also run with no cat, it gets installed for inspections, every two years and then removed again. It is second hand after about 500 kms it was very poor in the performance and drivability area took it back for warranty , they messed around with it was ok but in no time back to normal to the point my wife and daughter would not drive the car.
