I was hoping you could provide instructions, or just share your experience of installation. OK… let’s run a new target out to 25 yards (as far as I can go at the indoor range). I paid $120 for the sights (including the “black & gold” option for the rear sight). The rear Skinner peep sight is clamped on to the top of the receiver, which has a mounting groove built into it. I put up a new target and took 15 shots with the rifle rested on the “bench rest” molded into the hard plastic shelf at the booth I was in. The standard aperture that comes with the Skinner sight is 0.096″. I just ordered the two smaller sized aperture inserts (o.070″ / Medium and 0.040″ / Fine). I agree… a scope just doesn’t look right on a lever-action gun. . When the rear sight is raised, (ie: installing a receiver sight) a taller front sight will usually be needed.

If I recall, you push it out to the right and insert it to the left (as you look down the barrel from the rear of the rifle – like you would normally hold it). I didn’t see one that clamped over the grooves on their website. Gun Manufactures have used many many different ramp/sight height combinations over the years.

While this sight looks great on all Model 94 Marlins, it looks I always loved my Browning BL-22. Same Thing, Right. Enjoyed the article! I make high quality sights at a reasonable cost to the customer. (x-rays again). On the other hand, the Skinner sights look GREAT on a lever-action rifle!

Read, ponder, repeat, or implement anything I've said at your own risk. A few years ago, my wife got me a beautiful rifle for Christmas, a lever-action .22LR-caliber Browning BL-22 Grade II with Maple stocks. I found it helpful to poke a hole in the tape over the screw hole with a toothpick.

In my case, it was the 0.600″ sight for my BL-22. Screw size is 6-48 on .860" centers. We have ramps and front sights available. If you’re not comfortable wrenching and banging on your gun, you can find a local gunsmith to do it for you. Front sight (0.600″)  installed. If at any time your sight needs to be repaired, I do so at no charge. Picked up the BL-22 yesterday and will be adding the Skinner peep. I painted the face of the sight with Blaze Orange paint (available in a pen from Skinner Sights on their Special Items Page). In any case, I love the rifle. I also researched it on some forums. With less available light, you’ll need a larger aperture. This time, I brought a proper bag rest to stabilize the rifle rather than the hard plastic molded “rest” built into the range bench.
